I agree with you on everything except whether Trump is the real threat. I believe that we would all be far better off if Congress embraced the Constitution and stood up to Trump, but, as we're discovering, a determined authoritarian President can do a whole lot of damage. Even if Congress were to stand up to Trump right now, impeach him and convict him as I believe they should, there's no guarantee he would leave. He's already shown that he will use force to confront Congress.
